Tuesday was a big travel day. We departed our Paris hotel around 0715, it was an early start. Our next stop is Lucerne, Switzerland; it is an all day bus ride across.
To my surprise much of France's country side is quite green and rural with lots of fields and farmland. It is quite beautiful and reminded me of the VT/NY Champlain Valley.
They also have many windmills mixed amongst the Canola fields. The Canola fields make for some pretty scenery.
It was a long ride with a few rest stops; we arrived at Lake Lucerne about 1700.
As we walked from the bus to our boat, one of the first things I saw was a Ben & Jerry's advertisement; they really are everywhere. I don't know what it means to Schogg You?
We walked about a 1/4 mile to the docks, which were bustling with people, it was another very nice day. Bicycles are everywhere, it seems to be the primary mode of transportation. Many of the bike parking areas are covered, it rains a fair amount here.
The town is picturesque, especially on such a nice day.
We signed up for the boat tour on Lake Lucerne, so boarded the Pegasus for about a one hour cruise.
From the lake the mountains and town looked even more beautiful.
Tomorrow we plan to take a cable car up Mt Pilatus, this is that mountain.
The weather was perfect and we had a nice time.
This statue of Jesus is on a rock on the shore, the captain said he is expressing how large the fish are in Lake Lucerne.
Captain Mike was very entertaining.
Our tour company treated us to drinks during the cruise, it was a fun time.
After our boat tour we arrived at our hotel and were treated to dinner. it was very nice with one little snafu; some of the people on our tour are vegetarian and Jean and June got served their tofu and mushroom dish. It looked like the same chicken dish that everyone else got......but NOT! All is well that ends well, the other people did not get served the chicken. They had a cute little bar but service was very slow; the bartenders were also the waiter and waitress. :)
